Manhunt 2: “temporarily suspended”

In the wake of international bans and an Adults Only rating in the US, Manhunt 2 won’t make its July 10 release date, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed. The game had been expected to ship that day for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo Wii.
“Take-Two Interactive Software has temporarily suspended plans to distribute Manhunt 2 for the Wii or PlayStation platforms while it reviews its options with regard to the recent decisions made by the British Board of Film Classification and Entertainment Software Rating Board,” a representative told GameSpot. “We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment.”
While the ESRB’s initial rating of an AO for Adults Only doesn’t explicitly prohibit the game from being sold, most major US retailers refuse to carry AO games, and console manufacturers prohibit their third-party publishers from releasing AO titles on their systems.

Wii is Only #3..on PC World's Top 100 Products of 2007. That is.
Yesterday PC World unveiled their list of the 100 best products of 2007. Coming in a very strong 3rd is the Nintendo Wii. Not only is the Wii dominating the gaming industry, it is dominating the electronics industry itself.
Nintendo beat out a wide variety of products, including the 80GB Apple iPod and the RIM Blackberry 8800. Actually, the only other gaming device to even make the list was Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Elite.
The only two things to even beat out the Wii were the Google Apps Premier Edition and the Intel Core 2 Duo.
Looks like the Wii is keeping some very strong company.

GameStop prepping line of Wii accessories
Apparently not content with simply selling other company's wares, Gamestop has decided to get in on the Wii accessory madness itself, introducing its own line of Wii add-ons of varying utility. Sure to attract more than a few stares is the company's Afterglow Cooler (pictured above), which promises to keep the already cool console even cooler, with some blue LED lighting adding some justification for the $15 price tag. The rest of Gamestop's accessories take on the ever-expandable Wiimote, including a $10 silicon grip that replaces the controller's battery cover to reduce slippage (check it out after the break), and a full compliment of now-familiar Wii Sports accessories (also viewable after the break), available in a bundle for $20. Look for the whole lot to be available sometime before the end of this quarter.

Wiisic 0.80 - Play mp3 music on your Wii!

0.80
Since I got my new 16:9 LCD screen last week. I concluded, do work again on Wiisic. I spent the last three days, rewriting the complete player code. Now the whole application should be hopefully "uncrashable".
- New feature: Directory navigator. Navigate through all subdirectories of the folder you specified and play the files in there.
- Complete new player code. Hopefully "uncrashable".
- 16:9 white player skin.

LucasArts Making Star Wars Light Saber Wii Game
The games division head at LucasArts has let some news slip about the making of a Star Wars Light Saber Wii Game, he said “a Wii game that lets players wield virtual light sabers is on the horizon”.
Now that just had to happen on the Nintendo Wii, Star Wars is such a big franchise and with the Wii’s unique controller it makes an idea solution for the Light Saber.
What would be cool are lightsaber sound effects coming from the Wii-mote’s speaker that would be an added bonus.
No word on dates yet, but we will let you know unless you leave a comment first.

7 inch portable Wii screen!
Asian peripheral maker Pega HK has brought what seems to be the first ever portable screen attachment for the Wii. This is usually the turf of Joytech, but seems that they have been beaten to the punch. The add-on screen boasts a viewing area of 7 inches, features a keystroke control for volume and colour adjustment as well as a flexible display screen for optimal viewing angles.Friday, June 1, 2007
Rumor: Killer 7 Wii Edition
While such a listing may simply be an error, it would make a great deal of sense. Killer 7's on-rails gameplay and point-and-shoot action are a good fit for the Wii-remote. Plus, the game would take advantage of the Wii's expanded audience, filling in holes in the console's "mature" category. Still, checking with the usual online retail suspects turns up nothing and recent interviews with Grasshoper honcho Goichi Suda reveal no hints about such a project.
I've got an e-mail in with Capcom to see what they have to say. While this is simply a rumor, something about it smells of truthiness.
